Best dApp Browsers For Ethereum Classic

It has been some time since Saturn Wallet was the only working dApp browser for ETC! Let's take a look at the best dApp browsers for Ethereum Classic.

Best dApp Browsers For Ethereum Classic

It has nearly been a year since we released Saturn Wallet, our fully functional wallet for Ethereum & Ethereum Classic that allows you to easily access dApps across both chains. We are extremely proud to have created a tool that is allowing many new projects to start easily developing on ETC.

Not going to lie - we did like the unique factor we gained given that for quite some time Saturn Wallet was the only working dApp browser for Ethereum Classic. However, much has changed since its release and there are now several tools available that allow users to easily interact with dApps on ETC! I thought with our multi-chain token sale currently on-going, it would be a great time to look at your best dApp browsers for Ethereum Classic.

Best Ethereum Classic dApp Browsers

  1. Saturn Wallet
  2. Nifty Wallet
  3. Trust
  4. MetaMask

Saturn Wallet

  • Easy Installation Process ✔️
  • Cross-browser Support ✔️
  • Access ETH and ETC Natively ✔️
  • Token Logo Support ✔️
  • Manage Custom Tokens ✔️
  • Hardware Wallet ❌
  • Custom Networks ❌
  • Correct USD Display ✔️

Now I know what you are thinking, seems a bit biased of you to put your own product first? But hear me out. Saturn Wallet supports both networks Ethereum & Ethereum Classic natively so no needing to fiddle around adding custom networks - from the installation you can swap between both networks in one click.

There is also something very reassuring about your custom token's logos being displayed inside your wallet also, and it is nice that your token balances auto-populate if detected.

Nifty Wallet

  • Easy Installation Process (Chrome) ✔️
  • Cross-browser Support ✔️
  • Access ETH and ETC Natively ✔️
  • Token Logo Support ❌
  • Manage Custom Tokens ✔️
  • Hardware Wallet ✔️
  • Custom Networks ✔️
  • Correct USD Display ✔️

I could definitely see Nifty Wallet becoming a preferred way by users to access dApps across multiple blockchains, it natively supports POA, xDAI, ETH, ETC & many testnets. It also provides support to connect with your Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet and allows you to set your own custom RPC URL, something that has been lacking for Ethereum Classic from a web wallet.

Nifty Wallet v4.11.4

The only reasons I can't give it top marks, is that currently the only easy installation path is for Chrome users - any other browser and you will have to fiddle around with a manual installation. Also I feel being present in Firefox addon store is important, because it means Nifty Wallet would be an option on mobile for Android users.

Yes, manual installations are easily done if you know what you are doing, but kind of tricky if you are not used to putting your browser into developer mode which it makes it hard to recommend to new users. Though I may also just be too spoilt by Saturn Wallet & Trust's custom token logo displays.

Also we have seen some users report that Nifty Wallet appears to connect to ETC a little slower compared to Saturn Wallet - not much of a big deal to me but I can see it annoying certain users and nothing critical during our tests.

Trust

  • Easy Installation Process 🤔
  • iOS + Android Support ✔️
  • Access ETH and ETC Natively ✔️
  • Token Logo Support ✔️
  • Manage Custom Tokens ✔️
  • Hardware Wallet
  • Custom Networks ❌
  • Correct USD Display ✔️

Trust is one of my favourite mobile wallets, mostly because it allows me to access Saturn Network & trade from my mobile when I am on the go. Of course, Trust is easy to install on an iPhone or Android.

Trust

But that is where the easy part ends. Trust does not make it easy to access their Ethereum Classic dApp browser feature with the App being set to multi-currency mode by default which only allows access to dApps on Ethereum. If you do not have a tutorial to follow, you may just find yourself scratching your head and wondering what to do.

MetaMask

  • Easy Installation Process ✔️
  • Cross-browser Support ✔️
  • Access ETH and ETC Natively ❌
  • Token Logo Support ❌
  • Manage Custom Tokens ✔️
  • Hardware Wallet ✔️
  • Custom Networks ✔️
  • Correct USD Display ❌

No no no! You must be mistaken, surely MetaMask is not an Ethereum Classic dApp browser? Well with a little tinkering it can be, you just have to add ETC as a custom network.

MetaMask v6.3.2

But really without Ethereum Classic being added as native support, it is not the greatest experience: it sends you to Etherscan as a block explorer, has the wrong coin logo and doesn't display the USD value anywhere. And though you can manually add your custom token contracts to manage them, MetaMask's interface does make it painful with needing multiple clicks every time.

There you have it! That was my round up for the best dApp browsers for Ethereum Classic that will let you access the world of ETC dApps, games & tokens with ease. If I have missed a tool out or you are developing a new dApp browser for ETC, please come let us know in our forum and we will definitely highlight it.
