Team Saturn is extremely excited to present a preview of our upcoming Saturn Widgets. We wanted to give token owners and developers a sneak peek of what they can expect to get their hands on with the upcoming release. The main goal with Saturn Widgets is to promote further Saturn Protocol decentralization by encouraging projects to set up alternative mirrors for their community. Along with transparency, as the code will be entirely open source.
Saturn Widgets is a fully working product from day 1 which is extremely easy to customize and deploy, without any prior web or DApp development experience. In a matter of minutes, you can use it to create a custom theme that will make your community feel at home, which you can host on your website. For example, by just changing under 30 lines of code:
As you can see from the screenshots above we have also included an optional trader leaderboard as an additional feature. This allows token owners to launch and manage their own trading competition without any involvement from Team Saturn. We believe this will be a great incentive for projects to deploy a mirror of their order book, a new tool crypto businesses can use to attract new traders to their market and promote their token. We have included three pre-defined competition strategies that can be used, though nothing stops you diving into the code and creating your own leaderboard rules.
Time to join the builders?
With gas prices rising to meteoric levels on Ethereum network, it is definitely not a great time to be focusing on any Airdrop marketing - it would probably leave you in the negative!
Deploying a Saturn Widget for your community will not incur any expensive server bills, it is very lightweight, to the point that using Github Pages will be one of the best options. Being open source, it will be a great way to jump into frontend web development that interacts with smart contracts and start building. It is also a perfect opportunity for projects to add their own innovations and take full control of their onboarding experience. For example, what happens when a user clicks Buy but does not have a DApp browser?
Currently, they will be greeted with the same Quick Start flow as the exchange. Maybe you would prefer to embed a video tutorial? Or internalization with local translations - the possibilities are endless. Once released, we are planning to announce development bounties to inspire innovation.
You won't have to wait long, development for Saturn Widgets is nearly finished and the release will happen very soon. While you wait for the release, be sure to check out some of our past tutorials and open source products that are aimed at starting blockchain and DApp development:
- Tutorial for creating an ERC223 token on Ethereum Classic.
- Open source ERC20 Wrapper Dapp.
Don't forget that with the recent Phoenix Upgrade on ETC, from a technical point of view the two chains are almost 100% identical - meaning smart contracts you have deployed on Ethereum can easily be deployed on ETC. Only Ethereum Classic is not suffering from high transaction costs, so there is an amazing opportunity for developers to BUIDL there.
Future is bright!
